Creative Stitching: Embroidery and Quilting in the hoop
In this two-day class we will create a one-of-a-kind bag while having fun with multiple machine techniques that can be used to embellish a variety of projects: garments, quilts, crafts, and home decor. Techniques will include: embroidering and constructing a tile scene, quilting in the hoop (check out BERNINA's most recent Big Book of Computerized Quilting), learning perfect placement ( BERNINA's PinPoint Placement and or templates), creating a free standing lace charm, and designing a label from built in machine fonts AND in software for quilts, garments or any project. This is designed to be made on any model Bernina sewing/embroidery machine.
The following supplies for the bag will be included:
fabrics, batting, embroidery tile scene designs, stabilizers, 5 spools of Isacord thread. You will need to bring your machine, power cord, regular sewing feet, embroidery, medium hoop, large oval hoop, if you have one, white bobbin thread, 4 empty bobbins, fresh embroidery needles size 14, and of course your basic sewing kit.

Instructor: | Venitta McCall |
Instructor Bio: | Venitta received her first BERNINA, the 801 Sport in 1979, when
she experienced garment sewing using the Stretch and Sew
method. She has continued to learn, and now teaches BERNINA
Embroidery Software classes, as well as many classes and staff
training on overlockers and other BERNINA sewing and
embroidery machines.
Having served as a university professor and administrator
teaching is Venitta?s passion! It is most important for her students to experience laughter, fun,
learning, and enjoyment with every class she teaches from beginning quilting to composing basic
and complicated embroidery, cutwork, crystal work and painted designsin the BERNINA Software
and DesignWorks. For her, the joy of sewing is in the process and the learning that comes from
sharing tips, techniques, new ways of stitching, and rethinking what was done in the past and
what now can be accomplished with the current technology available with BERNINA machines.
She has enjoyed traveling and working with BERNINA dealers and their customers for over 20
years and she has worked extensively with all BERNINA software products, machine embroidery,
quilting, sewing, and stitch manipulation techniques. She is an accredited Jenny Haskins Tutor
and a certified HoopsistersTM instructor. One of her specialties is creating beautiful machine
embroidered quilts. |
